Privacy Policy

Speak Out helps you practise speaking English out loud. This policy explains exactly what the app does with what you say. It is short because the app collects very little.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number. Speak Out has no account and no login. We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or calendar. We do not use advertising, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking in the app.
What stays on your phone
Everything you build up in the app — your turns, the feedback on them, the chunks you collect, your history and the usage log the app keeps to improve itself — is stored only on your device. We cannot read it, and it is never uploaded to us.
Your voice
When you tap the microphone, your speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition. Apple does this on its servers, which means your audio is sent to Apple and handled under Apple's privacy policy. We never store your audio recordings ourselves.
Your words
To give you feedback, the text of what you said is sent to a language model provider (OpenRouter, routing to the model we have chosen). It is used to produce your feedback and returned to your phone. We do not attach your identity to it, because we do not have one. We ask that it not be used to train models.
Daily limits
If you are on the free plan, the app sends a random identifier created when you installed it, so we can count how many turns you have used today. It is not linked to you or your device in any other way, and it is deleted after two days.
Children
Speak Out is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything it stored, because all of it was on your phone. There is nothing on our side to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
